Champion Artists are enthusiastic about the development of music lovers and performers being cultivated by the Fender Center’s Kids Rock Free® Program. To show their support, Champion Artists are participating in CAMPAIGN 800 by approving the use of their name and support, signing memorabilia for auction and sale, and, when possible, attending CAMPAIGN 800 events to perform and/or visibly support music education for kids.

“The Champions’ support and assistance will enable us to stay true to our nonprofit mission, which is to have open door access to any young child with interest and talent for music regardless of academic grades and past training. With the current social and economic strains on families, we expect that over 70% of our new students are in need of scholarships.”

– Debbie Shuck, Executive Director of the Fender Center.

What CAMPAIGN 800 Champion Artists have to say about Fender Center’s music education:

STEVE MILLER - The Steve Miller Band

“In my opinion the Fender Museum and Music school is the best designed and operated community music program in the Country. It was built for a reasonable amount of money, it is self-sustaining and it focuses on teaching music by involving parents and children in a way that inspires and rewards good work. That is why I have performed three benefit concerts for the school and donated substantially to the program. It works. It is the best community project I¹ve ever seen and is a model for the rest of the country to emulate.”

“There isn¹t a finer community music program anywhere in the world and if you care about music education you should come to the school and see for yourself what can be done with a reasonable budget, intelligent design and a committed community.”

JOE WALSH

WALSH“The Fender Center is a California Musical Treasure, where music education gives children’s spirits’ wings to soar. That is why with public school music programs virtually gone because of budget cutting----The Fender Center is a light in the darkness!”

PHIL COLLEN - Guitarist, Def Leppard

“When I was asked to be a “Champion” for Fender Center CAMPAIGN 800, I was thrilled. Because I strongly believe that music, is an “Amazing”, and “Expressive” tool, for the developing the mind and is often overlooked as an important outlet. It’s an Absolute pleasure to champion that cause, and maybe even play a little guitar along the way. Rock on kids!!!”

PAUL RODGERS - Legendary singer & songwriter of Bad Company, The Firm, solo and now with Queen

“With so many schools deleting music from their curriculum, the Fender Center is filling a huge void making music accessible and affordable. It is absolutely fantastic that youth have an affordable place to study all types of music from rock to classical. Without music in my life as a kid, I may have taken a wrong turn.”
